Behavioral Assessment

To help us better understand the severity of a psychological problem, we conduct a variety of brief assessments (e.g., classrooom or home observations, adult reports, self-report measures). With these tools, we can assess whether or not specific behaviors or thoughts are significantly different from what we might expect from other children of the same age.

Through careful task analysis of the behavior we can develop of strategies to eliminate or reduce maladaptive behaviors and replace them with adaptive behaviors. If the data suggest that the behaviors or thoughts are uncommon and problematic, we then use the findings to identify the likely cause of the difficulty. By completion of a careful task analysis, we develop of strategies to eliminate or reduce maladaptive behaviors and replace them with adaptive behaviors.
