Individualized Behavior Plans

A behavior plan is a very effective procedure for improving the behavior and performance of children, adolescents, and young adults. It is a specialized technique that is used by psychologists and other clinicians with advanced knowledge in behavior management. When appropriate, plans are created in collaboration with the family. Specific behaviors are targeted for improvement. Behavior plans are excellent tools for problems such as school refusal, oppositional behavior, executive functioning problems with children who have ADHD, repetitive hair pulling, and addictive patterns of behavior. Plans are devised to change specific problem behaviors in locations such as the home or school. Data are collected to assess the severity of the problem and to measure improvement with the plan in place.
